When you're in the muck you can only see muck. If you somehow manage to float above it, you still see the muck but you see it from a different perspective. And you see other things too. That's the consolation of philosophy.
– David Cronenberg

Evoking an ethereal dragonfly or bubbles in the breeze, this piece is a meditation on the lightness that can come from feeling grounded.

Turquoise, beloved for more than 3000 years of human history, has long been believed to be a talisman of health, protection and luck - especially if given by a friend. There is even an Arabic proverb that states that a turquoise given by a loving hand carries with it happiness and good fortune!
According to GIA.edu (the Gemological Institute of America) turquoise's name comes from the French expression 'pierre tourques', or “Turkish stone.” This name, used from the thirteenth century onwards, lends weight to the theory that this beautiful blue stone probably first arrived in Europe from Turkish sources. It is now considered one of the birthstones for December babies. These beautiful specimens came from the Yungai mine in China and was sourced from Turquoise Moose.

This pendant is made entirely from recycled sterling silver sheet, set with an elongated oval, smoothly polished turquoise. Lacy silver rings flank either side of the stone, set with tiny beads of glowing 22k gold. This piece is truly one-of-a-kind, thanks to this exquisite stone.

It measures just over 1” (30 mm) wide by approximately 1.3” (35 mm) long, and its simple, airy construction has been polished to a bright shine to bring lightness to the graphic, contrasty stone.
The elongated turquoise oval measures approximately 10 x 28 mm, with a highly polished surface. Its bright aqua gives way to warm teal in a subtle side-to-side gradient, with graphic splashes of dark chocolate brown marking and delicate white veining throughout. It is set in a plain-edged, sterling silver bezel with a solid back for strength. A halo of sterling silver wire crowns the turquoise construction, connecting it to a 20” (21 cm) long, dainty sterling silver link chain, with micro-faceted black spinel beaded clasps at 16” (41 cm), 18” (46 cm) and 20” (51 cm) for a custom fit. It is finished with a sterling silver lobster-claw clasp. A longer or shorter chain option is available, simply convo me for more details.
I have recycled much of the silver and gold used to make this pendant; melting sterling scrap down to form silver ingots, flattening and drawing the silver down to plate and wire using hammers and my rolling mill, and then using this newly reclaimed silver to create my work.

All of my jewelry is made by me in my cozy home studio and will be shipped to you as shown, beautifully packaged and ready for giving as a gift for someone special (like yourself!)
