Through the waters spilled by the spring, I was remade. Forth I fared, a new plant with new leaves in a new time. The stars were there, and I was set to climb.
- Dante Alighieri

Like a North Star that you carry with you. This design came from the notion that knowing your self is finding your way, even when your direction is less than clear.

The ancients believed that labradorite was fragments of the Northern Lights (aurora borealis) that had fallen to earth, and as such it represented the place where the earth and and the unseen realms of the universe met. It has long been believed to be symbol of intuition, guidance and protection. Named after the province of Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada, where it was found on the Isle of Paul, near Nain in 1770, labradorite is now found in other places, including Norway, Finland, Russia, Mexico, Madagascar, India and Australia. It is a member of the feldspar mineral family and has been used as a decorative and jewellery material since the 1800s, becoming an important ingredient in early glass and ceramic production to increase the strength and durability of finished pieces.

This pendant is made entirely from sterling silver wire and sheet, set with a round, flashy labradorite that glows brightly green-to-amber gold with a vivid blue bolt in its depths. Rays of silver wire frame the stone, while a flat disk of gleaming recycled 22k gold floats above it. Thanks to the singularity of this beautiful stone, this piece is truly one-of-a-kind.

It measures approximately 1” (25 mm) wide by just over 1” (30 mm) long, and its simple, shiny construction has been polished to a bright shine to contrast both the luminous stone and the dramatic patina that creates depth in its detailed construction.
The labradorite measures a substantial 15 mm in diameter, with a smoothly polished surface. Its champagne-grey depths shimmer with silvery glitter, striated bolts and a few inky inclusions, shot through with fiery gold flash and a secret spark of bright blue that labradorite is famous for. It is set in a plain-edged, sterling silver bezel with a solid back to protect the stone. The pendant is suspended by a pair of jump rings connecting to a small arc of silver at its top point.

The pendant hangs from a 20” (21 cm) long, dainty sterling silver link chain, with warm grey, micro-faceted smoky quartz beaded clasps at 16” (41 cm), 18” (46 cm) and 20” (51 cm) for a custom fit. It is finished with a sterling silver lobster-claw clasp. A longer or shorter chain option is available, simply convo me for more details.
I have recycled much of the silver (and the 22k gold) used to make this pendant; melting sterling scrap down to form silver ingots, flattening and drawing the silver down to plate and wire using hammers and my rolling mill, and then using this newly reclaimed silver to create my work. The labradorite stone has been in my collection for more than 10 years, a gift from a friend who travelled back with it from Eastern Europe.

All of my jewelry is made by me in my cozy home studio and will be shipped to you as shown, beautifully packaged and ready for giving as a gift for someone special (like yourself!)
