Winter garden,
the moon thinned to a thread,
insects singing
- Matsuo Bashō

I like to create work that either tells a story, or looks like it emerged from one. My favourite stories emerge from time spent outdoors discovering plants and wildlife, moving through natural spaces, and documenting and collecting specimens. I have created silicone moulds of my collected natural specimens in faithful detail, and cold cast them using sterling silver precious metal clay. Because of my commitment to making one of a kind jewellery, these natural specimen reproductions are entirely my own and only available in my designs.

A sleek and sparkling band of silver begins and ends with densely detailed clusters of buds and flowers, and a single petal of radiant rainbow moonstone. This is a one of a kind, magical bracelet whose beautiful botanical details evoke the warmth of high summer, while the rainbow moonstone captures the serenity of deep winter.

Rainbow moonstone is actually a light variety of labradorite, a member of the plagioclase feldspar family. While the ancients believed that labradorite was fragments of the Northern Lights (aurora borealis) that had fallen to earth, they believed that moonstone was moonlight that had solidified, and that like labradorite it represented the place where the earth and and the unseen realms of the universe met. Like labradorite, it has been used as a decorative and jewellery material since the 1800s, and became an important ingredient in early glass and ceramic production to increase the strength and durability of finished pieces. It is considered a talisman of truth and meaning; of finding the light within the dark, or of finding the fire within the smoke, so to speak. It has been used to enhance intuition, guidance and protection.

This adjustable cuff measures approximately 7" (17.8 cm) in circumference and about 1.4” (3.5 cm) at its widest point across the end that is set with the moonstone, and 1" (2.5 cm) across the other end.. The silver band is 3/16" (5 mm) wide, with a comfortable, half-round profile. Because this style is adjustable, it can be gently resized to fit most wrists; as shown, my right wrist is 6.5" (16.5 cm) around, and there is plenty room to make this cuff bigger by opening the space between the ends, or smaller by contracting them past each other. The buds and flower details, cold cast in sterling silver with faithful detail, have been defined with a rich patina to bring out their detail, and the silver background has a bright polished finish for a beautiful contrast. Set to one side of a spray of tiny buds is a single, teardrop shaped rainbow moonstone that shimmers with the palest pastel rainbow within. It is framed in a plain edged, fine silver bezel with an open back to allow this stone to glow, and the botanical details on both ends are mounted on substantial 1mm thick back plates for strength and comfort.

This cuff has been worked and tumbled for strength and durability, and polished to a high shine. It can be reshaped with even, gentle pressure to create the fit that you prefer.

All of my jewelry is made by me in my cozy home studio and will be shipped to you as shown, beautifully packaged and ready for giving as a gift for someone special (like yourself!)
